WILD AT HEART
This life-changing 7 day Sacred Mythic Journey begins in Tanzania, overlooking the famous Mount Kilimanjaro as we set out to to commune with the Maasai people of the Serengeti. Our journey then continues on to the tropical island of Zanzibar where we get up close and personal with the powerful animal spirits of this land.
A WAY OF LIFE THAT IS OUT OF THE ORDINARY
Marginalized by modernity and in recent history forced to leave their homeland, the San’s story is one of indigenous peoples’ around the globe, that of struggle to keep their way of life alive. When asked about the cheetah and what this animal means to them. The answer is one of co-existence, a symbiotic relationship; they live in extraordinary harmony. This is contrary to the viewpoint of what is even possible in our modern societies, distancing us from a reality where humans can have any true relationships with animals deemed ‘wild’, exotic or beast-like. It has developed into a dissonance so severe that modern-day humans are allowing and stoically bearing witness, as these magnificent creatures are being poached into extinction.
Had we not experienced the depth of connection that is possible with these intelligent sentient (and wild!) beings on our own journey of life, we would probably be too busy to advocate a change in our collective alienation from the exotic creatures that we share this planet with.
…Only to find that we did too little, too late, while the atrocities committed by trophy hunters and the black market trade go mostly unchecked on the global forefront of pressing issues, so many animals are being pushed to the brink of extinction.
MAKING A CHANGE
We believe that there is nothing in this world that can replace a moment of true unwavering connection with a creature that is deemed wild and dangerous by cultural consensus. The only context in our modern-day world in which we are to gain any benefit from interacting with such animals is with them behind bars.
The concept that the San people of Namibia have a symbiosis with one such creature, the cheetah, is entirely foreign, ill-advised and unnecessary to our modern way of life; interacting freely with such wild animals has no merits and we have nothing to gain from the experience. This could not be far from the truth.
We know that true change will blossom from this exact irreplaceable and enriching experience so that you may, as well, carry in your heart the felt knowledge of how much love the vastness of the animal kingdom has to offer us. We must make ourselves informed on how to interact with certain exotic species with respect i.e. rescues, hand-reared orphans or a species that has a symbiosis with indigenous peoples. We must have firsthand experience with these animals in order to truly feel the gravity of how these amazing creatures are being wiped off the face of the earth at an alarming rate due to our distance from having any true connection with them; a heartfelt connection that we can imagine having with our dog, for example.
BROADENING OUR HORIZONS
So let us learn from the exemplary San people of Namibia, a way of life that is otherwise inconceivable and falsely portrayed as impossible by our Westernized worldview. Let us fully integrate the medicine that is offered by this added layer to the human experience as we embrace the company of our wild and furry friends in Tanzania to raise awareness in our own reality of how priceless these beings truly are.
